Week 10: Camtasia

What is Camtasia??

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia,
Camtasia Studio and Camtasia for Mac are screen video capture software, published by TechSmith. The user defines the area of the screen or the window that is to be captured, a setting that is set before the recording begins. Camtasia Studio also allows the user to record audio from a microphone or speakers, and to place a webcam's video footage on the screen.

How can I use Camtasia in Childhood Education?

1- Make the teaching aids and standardise the learning lesson .
Teacher can apply the video clip to every class. So teacher wont miss up some important points.

2- As a reference video.
Teacher can solve or answer the problem faced by the children using the video clip created by camtasia. It is more clear if the lesson involved the sense of visual and audio.

3- Long Distance Learning.
Children and parents can make it as a reference or revision of the class. They are not only learning in the class. They can have the copies of learning lesson in their house.

How to use Camtasia??

There are many tools in camtasia
1- Callouts - Teacher can use this tool to attract children attention.
2- Zoom n Pan -Stress to the point. Children can look more detail about what the teacher said.
3- Audio - Teacher can mix the different audios into a video. Teacher can fix in their own narration and music.
4- Transitions - Make the video more live.
5- Cursor Effects - To get children attention on the point
6- Title Clips - Teacher can simply change or add the title of the video clip.
7- Voice Narration - Teacher can record their own narration using the video.
8- Record Camera- Teacher can record the demonstration using the camera.
9- Picture-in-Picture -Teacher can enhance the image, webcam recording or video clip located on the PnP track.Border, opacity and size can be adjusted.
10- Video- Teacher can mix the different videos into a video clip.
11- Split - Teacher can split the video or audio and take only the important or needed parts only.
12- Share - Teacher can share the video easily to internet like youtube or also compose the video into different types of files.

This is my first tried with jing and Camtasia

Week 11: Kegunaan Wordpress

Wordpress is something like Blog.
We can share media, multimedia for example video, link, picture in our post.
We can also post or link the post we have written in Wordpress in Twitter or Facebook.
As what Blog can do, wordpress can also link the presentation that we might need to use in the classroom.

However,
Different from blogspot, wordpress have the private setting.
Not everyone can see the pages or the lessons that we will share with the children.
There are the preview of interesting post in the wall of wordpress. We can view it without knowing the exact address of the person if the setting is public.

Private setting is available. Teachers can divide their notes into the category. It is more systematic!

Teacher can easily choose the TOPICS they want to read!

Here are some tools in Wordpress!!

week 6: how to use internet in classroom

Physical development:

I may use www.youtube.com to find some latest and newest demonstration video for example video to teach dancing and also exercise. It can make the class more fun as it involved sense of visual and audio.

Language Development :

I would try to get a good pronunciation video using www.youtube.com.  I can also try to make the class morre interactive for example recording down the video conversation among the children using MSN (window live messenger).  Children can also required to write the full sentence for their conversation.

Cognitive Development:
I may use internet to find some useful webpage. For example, page that provide worksheet, games and quiz.

www.learninggamesforkids.com/

I will use second life to find more information of the teaching because second life can connect with the people globally

Moral Development:
I may use Camtasia to create my own video of moral story. Involving the character or name of children may make this learning more impressive. Installing the new version of ''camtasia'' may required  the use of internet.

Emotional Development :
I may open the internet or online game which can involve the whole class students.
Pupil are required to take turn or play in group. Thus they can release their feelings and tension of the day. They may have feeling of angry, happy and nervous in the game.

Here is a website which can be the reference of teacher on how to carry on e-learning in the classroom!

4th week- Second Life

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

System requirements
Second Life is an online virtual world developed by Linden Lab. It was launched on June 23, 2003. A number of free client programs, or Viewers,[1][2] enable Second Life users, called Residents, to interact with each other through avatars. Residents can explore the world (known as the grid), meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade virtual property and services with one another. Second Life is intended for people aged 16 and over,[3] and as of 2011 has about one million active users.[4]
Built into the software is a three-dimensional modeling tool based around simple geometric shapes that allows residents to build virtual objects. There is also a procedural scripting language, Linden Scripting Language, which can be used to add interactivity to objects.Sculpted prims (sculpties), mesh, textures for clothing or other objects, and animations and gestures can be created using external software and imported. The Second Life Terms of Service provide that users retain copyright for any content they create, and the server and client provide simple digital rights management functions.[3]

My View on Second Life

1. Make the learning lesson more impressive
- Second life involved the sensory motor like visual, audio and kinestetic. Most of the children like motion, thing which can move, thus it can make the children make interested to learn.

2. Teacher can built or create their own teaching tools n materials.
- Teacher can buy a land in Second Life. They can create their own materials according to the children interest and learning style. It can make the learning lesson more effective and interacting.

3. Children and Parents can view or study ANYTIME !
- Parents can know whatever the children learn in the school. They can simply log on to Second life if they want to have study time with their children whenever they are free. Besides, children and parents can also do the preparation or the revision of study. Then the children are more ready to learn.

4.  Teacher should limit the time of using internet.
- Children may addicted to this website which is fulled with attraction. Although the possibility of attach with bad information is in controlled, but the chance still there. Teacher and parents should controlled the time of surfing in Second life to make sure children will not become they digital slave, and also not become the person who live only in second life, and lost themselves in the real life.

5. Teacher can set the password for the page they set up.
- This can make the lesson more effective because the number of student is limited.

week 9- Jing

The most simple, useful software I use in this semester, Jing

What is Jing?
Developed by TechSmith Corporation, Jing is a computer software program used to share images or movies with others on the Internet. Jing has a number of possible uses, both for business collaboration and enhancing online conversations or social networking sites.

Read more: What Is Jing? | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/facts_5792256_jing_.html#ixzz1gPPP6YPX

Function

  • With Jing, users have the ability to create an image from an item that appears on their desktop, such as a digital photograph, a graph created in a spreadsheet program or a map. Jing also provides the ability to make animations or videos that show users completing a series of steps useful for instructing others, such as using a software program to complete a task.

Uses

  • Once the image or film is made, Jing allows users to upload the created file to a Jing website that provides a link users can share with others in an instant messenger, on their homepages, or using a social networking site like Twitter, My Space or Facebook. Jing also allows users to save the file to their computers for later use or to upload the file to their online Flickr account.

Features

  • Jing allows users to add text or draw items like arrows on images to provide labels or captions. The Pro version of Jing also enables users to include footage from their web cameras in videos.

Systems

  • Jing is available for both Mac OS X and Windows-based computers.

Cost

  • As of December 2009, the basic version of Jing was available as a free download, while Jing Pro cost $14.95 per year to download and use.
